Frequently Asked Questions
I’m awkward in front of the camera—will you guide us?
Absolutely! Most of my clients say the same thing at first. You don’t need to know how to pose—I’ll gently guide you the whole way and keep things relaxed. It’s more about connection than perfection. And sometimes, if I go quiet, it just means I’m capturing those beautiful in-between moments—the ones that show you just as you are.
What if my kids don’t cooperate?
It’s completely normal—I don’t expect little ones to pose or behave a certain way. I’ll meet them where they’re at and create a space where they feel free to be themselves—and that’s when the most beautiful photos happen! I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve and plenty of patience, so no stress.
A few tips to help things go even smoother: make sure they’re not hungry, pack some snacks (and spare clothes just in case), chat with them beforehand about what to expect, and maybe plan a little treat for after the session—it gives them something to look forward to.
How long does it take to get our photos?
You’ll receive your final gallery within 1–3 weeks, depending on how busy the season is. Event galleries may take a little longer due to the larger number of images.
What should we wear? Can I bring outfit changes?
Outfits play a crucial role in the overall look and feel of your images. I recommend wearing neutral tones and earthy colours—these photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on connection. Try to avoid large brand logos, bold patterns, or cartoon character outfits, as they can be distracting and take away from the timeless feel of your photos.
Comfort is key! Avoid clothes that are too tight to sit in or that a toddler might constantly be fixing because they’re slipping off their shoulders. I also have a small selection of maternity dresses available if you'd like to use one. If you want to add a little personal touch, consider bringing your favourite hat, a bunch of flowers, or another meaningful prop to make the session even more you.
You're welcome to bring an outfit change for variety—just keep in mind that changes will most likely happen outdoors, so bringing a towel or blanket for privacy is a good idea.
If you’d like to discuss outfit ideas, feel free to message me and send photos of what you’re thinking of wearing—I’m happy to help!
Can we bring our dog/pet?
Yes, absolutely! Pets are part of the family. Just please let me know when booking, so we can choose a pet-friendly location!
What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
If it’s just a light rain, we can still go ahead with the session if you’re happy to—rainy days often create unique, memorable photos you’ll definitely treasure. Overcast skies provide beautifully even lighting, and if we’re lucky - cloudy sunsets can be absolutely stunning. However, if the weather is exceptionally bad, we’ll reschedule for another day to make sure you get the best experience
Can I reschedule if something comes up?
Yes, life happens and I completely understand. Just please let me know as soon as possible!
I want to book a newborn session—how do I know when the right time is?
Many clients book their newborn session before baby arrives—we’ll simply pencil in your due date, and once your little one is here, you can let me know within a couple of days and we’ll lock in the actual session date. I keep space in my calendar for these kinds of flexible bookings, so don’t worry—we’ll find the right time once baby makes their arrival.
If your baby is already born and you’d like to book a session—just reach out! Sleepy newborn photos are usually best within the first two weeks, but there’s no right or wrong time to take photos of your baby. As they get older, they’ll be more awake and aware—but still absolutely adorable!
